
Dominion Energy plans to build substation on Mohawk Drive in West Columbia – Construction to begin in 2027
Dominion Energy plans to build the Millrace Substation on existing company property in the 1300 block of Mohawk Drive, aiming to increase electrical capacity and system reliability. The City of West Columbia announced news of the project, Tuesday.
According to Dominion Energy, this project aims to increase capacity and enhance the reliability of the electric system. Pending regulatory approvals, construction is expected to begin in 2027 and continue in phases through 2028. A vegetative buffer is planned along both Mohawk Drive and Saluda River Drive.
Pending regulatory approvals, construction is slated to run from 2027 through 2028, with a community workshop scheduled for late 2026.
