Disorderly conduct reported at Airport-BC football game, spurs false rumors on social media
Brookland-Cayce High School Principal Barry Bolen said, in an email to parents, that a few Brookland-Cayce fans and families, expressed disappointment about some of the conduct in the stands during the Airport-BC football game, Friday.
Bolen said he shared in the disappointment. He also said extra law enforcement and school administrators, were brought in for added safety. There was a fight among a small group of individuals. That incident led to a number of false reports and rumors on social media. There were no weapons found at any time during the game, according to law enforcement. “Still, this conduct tainted what was otherwise an occasion to celebrate – a win for our Bearcats football team against a very tough opponent,” Bolen said.
Bolen also said: “Disorderly and unsafe behavior will not be tolerated at Brookland-Cayce High School events. We will continue to meet with school and district officials, our director of security and risk, local law enforcement, and others to prepare safety plans for the week’s home athletic events. We anticipate implementing additional safety measures before our next home game on Friday, September 9. Already this month, the district has instituted a clear bag rule, and our Board of Trustees has approved the purchase and use of metal detectors at our high school stadiums and arenas. Those detectors have been ordered.”
“A safe game day experience – for our athletes, students, coaches, employees, and fans – is a top priority. So is maintaining the proud traditions of our Brookland-Cayce community. If you have any questions or concerns, please see one of our administrators.”
