Plans were announced in October for a new 1,500-seat Brookland High School basketball arena at 613 Knox-Abbott Drive, Cayce.

Demolition of the Motel 6 at that site started this week. Completion date for the arena is slated for Fall 2019. An incorrect date for the arena was published earlier. We regret the error. 

The Lexington Two School District purchased the 3.10 acre Motel 6 property with plans to build the new $10.5 million arena on the site.

An opening date is set for the Fall of 2019 if there are no unforeseen delays.

The construction is being funded by the $225 million bond referendum that Lexington 2 voters passed in November 2014.
