Some unique and decorative paintings were found in the upper corners of the Court Room of the old Brookland City Hall and Fire Station. It’s on Center Street and was built in 1925.

The City of West Columbia, on its Facebook page, released photos of the paintings and local residents began to comment

Scott Linaberry said: “I think they were chimney flue access covers for cleaning, mostly for oil burning furnaces…??”

Hannah Bauchat: “I have one in my house on D Avenue, it allegedly covers an old wood stove that’s now buried into the wall.”

The building is the future of Savage Craft Ale Works in West Columbia’s River District area. The brewery is scheduled to open in May of 2020 in the historic Brookland Fire Station and City Hall building at 430 Center Street.
