CresCom Bank cut the ribbon in Cayce Thursday, officially transitioning from Congaree State Bank. There is a branch of CresCom on Sunset Boulevard in West Columbia, too.
Despite the name change don’t expect the level of personal service to be affected.

“We’re a community bank,” said David Morrow. He is CresCom’s President and CEO who is based in the company’s headquarters in Charleston. Morrow said it’s still local people, who know the needs of its customers, running the banks. The bank will have the same focus on good service.

And that is supported by the fact CresCom installed Kevin Adams as a Senior Vice President and Columbia Market Leader.
Adams is a graduate of Airport High School and he has spent his career in Lexington County, most of it with First Community Bank. He replaces longtime Congaree State Bank President and CEO Charlie Kirby, who retired when the bank merged with CresCom in the summer.

“Charlie called and said he was retiring,” Adams said. He liked the opportunity. Adams said the Cayce and West Columbia area are his community. His children, Beckham and Madison grew up here.
“It’s critical to find someone with deep roots and strong values,” said Morrow of Adams. “To be responsible for the market, you must understand it.”

As for the rest of the staff that came from Congaree State Bank, Morrow and Adams said they are pleased.
“Congaree was a well-run bank,” Morrow said. “It had good employees. Adams complimented the team he inherited and said the bank has adjusted to the changes brought on by the merger, and it’s ready to go on offense with growth as one of its goals.
