West Columbia Police Chief Marion Boyce recognized Cpl. Austin Atkins as Officer of the Quarter at the West Columbia City Council Meeting, Monday.

Cpl. Atkins has maintained a high level of DUI and General Sessions cases over this past quarter. He was also recognized for making a point of investigating cases and following up on them beyond the initial report. In July, Cpl. Atkins responded to the call of a choking toddler where he was able to clear the child’s airway, which was completely blocked, saving the child’s life. (Photo by Anna Huffman – City of West Columbia)
