Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the victim of a suspected drowning, Wednesday.

The body of the victim was recovered from the Congaree River at approximately 9 p.m., Wednesday.

According to Fisher, Mr. Javion Cannon, 17, of Columbia was recovered from the water and pronounced deceased on the scene.

Mr. Cannon entered the water between the Cayce Boat Landing and the Blossom Street Bridge at approximately 05:30 p.m. He went under the water and did not resurface, prompting a search that began just before 6 p.m.

The incident is under investigation by the Cayce Department of Public Safety.
