Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has released the identity of a woman who was shot and killed
on Wednesday, shortly after 2 p.m. in the 600 block of Pine Grove Road located in the Leesville area
of Lexington County.

Fisher states that Ms. Emily Renee Zeigler, 55, of Leesville, was found dead inside her residence.
Ms. Zeigler was pronounced dead on scene due to a gunshot wound to the upper body. An
acquaintance of Ms. Zeigler was also shot and transported to an area hospital with life threatening
injuries.

The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department and the Lexington County Coroner’s Office continue to
investigate this incident.
