Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the motorcyclist who died as a result of a collision with a motor vehicle that occurred near the intersection of U.S. Highway 378 and Spool Wheel Road at approximately 03:55 p.m. on August 17.

According to Fisher, Mr. Paul Edward Yon, 56, of Leesville was pronounced dead, Saturday, at an area hospital due to his injuries.

Mr. Yon was traveling westbound on U.S. Hwy 378 when the other vehicle turned left onto the road, causing Mr. Yon to collide with the side of the vehicle. Mr. Yon’s motorcycle then left the roadway and struck a ditch. Mr. Yon was not wearing a helmet when the collision occurred. The incident remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
