Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the individual who died in a motorcycle accident in the 2600 block of Augusta Road, West Columbia in Lexington County at approximately 7 a.m. on Monday.

According to Fisher, Mr. James M. Rials, 63, of Gaston was traveling westbound on Augusta Road when he was attempting to enter the on-ramp of I-26 eastbound and lost control of his motorcycle. Mr. Rials, who was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident and was pronounced dead at the scene due to the injuries sustained.

The West Columbia Police Department and the Lexington County Coroner’s Office continue to investigate the incident.
