Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the individual who died in a motorcycle accident at the intersection of Highway 378 and Lewie Road in Gilbert shortly before 5 p.m. on Friday.

According to Fisher, Mr. Russell J. Harris, 51, of Batesburg was traveling eastbound on Highway 378 when he collided with a vehicle attempting to turn westbound onto 378 from Lewie Road. Mr. Harris, who was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries sustained in the collision. The driver of the vehicle was not injured and remained on scene.

The incident is being investigated by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
