Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the person killed in the traffic accident that occurred at approximately 6:15 p.m., Thursday, in the 800 block of Hwy 178 (Fairview Rd) and Water Tank Road in Pelion.

Brenda L. Dodgens, 62, of Leesville, died on the scene from the injuries she received in the accident after the car she was driving crossed the center line. Her vehicle was struck by a west bound tractor trailer truck as she traveled eastbound on Fairview Road. The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured.

An autopsy will be performed Friday to determine the cause of death. She was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the accident.
The Lexington County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol will continue to investigate the accident.
