Coroner identifies early-morning fatal accident victim

Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the individual that was killed in the single lccovehicle accident that occurred at approximately  3:10 a.m. Saturday. 
Thomas M. Goad, 49, of Pelion  died, according Fisher. Goad was killed  as a result of the injuries he sustained when the 1999 Chevrolet truck he was operating was traveling eastbound and left the right side of the roadway on Hwy 302 (Pine Street) at Josh Road in Pelion.  The truck struck a pole then overturned and Goad was ejected from the vehicle.  Mr. Goad was not wearing a seatbelt.
Goad was transported to Palmetto Health Richland Hospital where he died shortly after arrival from multiple body trauma.
The accident remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
