Identification of Missing Boater Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the body of a boater.

The boater was reported missing on Lake Murray Saturday night.

Coroner Fisher states that the body of Jonathan Scott Scruggs, 26, of Gaffney was recovered shortly before 10.m., Sunday near Goat Island on Lake Murray.

An autopsy will be performed Monday, to determine the cause of death. Scruggs was wearing a life jacket and that life jacket was still on him when his body was recovered.

The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources and the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department will continue to investigate the accident.
