Coroner identifies body found in retention pond as that of a Lexington County teen who was reported missing on Nov. 30

A Lexington County missing person was found dead in a retention pond at the Amazon fulfillment facility.
At approximately 1:20 p.m., Wednesday, the Lexington County Coroner’s Office was called to the Amazon fulfillment center in the 4400 block of 12th Street Extension in the West Columbia area of Lexington County. The call was in reference to a body that was found in the retention pond.

Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the body as that of Mr. Jerrold George Dejean, 19 years old, of Gaston. Mr. Dejean was reported missing on November 30. An autopsy has been scheduled at MUSC in Charleston on Friday, at 11:30 a.m.

The Lexington County Coroner’s Office as well as the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department is continuing to investigate.
