Congaree River water level expected to start lowering Monday – More than 1,000 still without power says West Columbia Mayor

West Columbia Mayor Tem Miles said, via a Facebook post, the Congaree River, at the Riverwalk Amphitheater, was at its highest point, Monday morning around 9:30. The water level was just over a foot lower than it was during the Flood of 2015.

“This is likely the highest the river will get. It’s about 14” lower than 2015. The river is projected to start its drop soon. Thank the lord,” Miles posted. He also said: “We still have 1022 people in West Columbia without power. Dominion is doing an incredible job of working through the outages. Thank you all for your patience.” Click for a link to Miles’ post
