Take a stroll on the Riverwalks in Cayce and West Columbia on a warm August evening. The river is like a sheet of metal in places and the purring of the flowing water is soothing.

The river had been high over the weekend, swollen and brown. But on Monday the water-level was lower and a little more peaceful.

Along with the the splendid scenery afforded by the Congaree, the smells of summer are an added treat. The rich aroma of the water, and all the fauna around, fills the air, especially in the summer.
