At approximately 1:10 p.m. Wednesday, bus number 4 transporting students home from Congaree/ Wood Early Childhood Center and Congaree Elementary was hit in the rear by a pick-up truck.

The bus was in the process of making a routine bus stop at the home of some of our students when the accident occurred. School officials and Emergency Management rushed to the scene. Emergency Management has recommended that 18 students be transported for further medical examination.

The parents of the students involved are being contacted.  With this number of students needing further evaluation, the students are being transported to three local medical facilities.
