Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the individual who died after a tree fell on a vehicle on Interstate 20 Westbound at approximately 11:45 a.m. Thursday.

According to Fisher, Ms. Pamela Adams Powell, 49, of Columbia was traveling at a slow rate of speed due to traffic when a tree fell on her vehicle.

Ms. Powell was transported to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead a short time later due to her injuries. Ms. Powell was wearing a seat belt when the incident occurred. The South Carolina Highway Patrol investigated the accident.
