Columbia firefighter injured in West Columbia fire

Fire was at Edgewater on the Saluda, a condominium complex in West Columbia.

A Columbia firefighter was injured battling an early-morning fire in West Columbia, Monday.
The injury is said to be not life-threatening.
The fire was at Edgewater on the Saluda, a condominium complex on Edgewater Lane in West Columbia.

The complex is off of Comanche Trail, near the Saluda River. It  is not in the City of West Columbia’s jurisdiction. It was a Lexington County fire call, said Anna Huffman, West Columbia’s Public Information Officer. She said 12 units were damaged.
The fire report came at 2:34 a.m. It is believed the fire started on a second-floor balcony.
Crews from West Columbia, Columbia, Cayce and Lexington County Fire departments responded to the blaze.
It took about 45 minutes to get control of the fire.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The American Red Cross is helping families displaced by the fire.
