The City of West Columbia is in the process of developing a “Safe Streets and Roads for All Safety Action Plan.” The development of the safe streets plan is funded by a federal grant, to improve walkability, accessibility, and reduce serious crashes.

Thursday night there was a Safe Streets public meeting held at West Columbia City Hall to provide information to West Columbia residents. Pages of West Columbia traffic and crash data were presented at the meeting. Those who attended were asked to fill out a survey to gauge safe street concerns. The citizen input, combined with SCDOT crash statistics, will serve as a basis for the Safe Street plan.
