Solar Fest West has been scheduled for the West Columbia Riverwalk and Amphitheater. The City of West Columbia announced the event Friday.

City officials have issued an invitation to  “view the once in a lifetime solar eclipse at Solar Fest West.” Solar Fest West will feature live music, food trucks, a beer garden, activities, and more. Mark you calendars.

The total eclipse of the sun will occur on Aug. 21, 2017, when the sun disappears behind the moon. For the period of the eclipse, daylight will turn into twilight and the temperature will drop rapidly.
