West Columbia City Administrator Brian Carter discussed the city’s proposed general fund and water-sewer budgets for Fiscal Year 2023-2024 at the West Columbia City Council meeting, Tuesday.

Carter said the general fund budget is $25 million and the water-sewer budget is $24,215,000.
A public hearing and first reading on the budget is scheduled for May. Second reading would be scheduled later in May if first reading is approved.

Also, several residents, during the public participation portion of the meeting, addressed council regarding social media comments made by Councilman Mike Green. The speakers said Green was insensitive to the LGBTQ+ community. Five speakers were given 3 minutes each to express their concerns. Click here for a link to the meeting
