The City of Columbia is working on a plan for a design to develop a portion of riverfront property between the Gervais Street Bridge and the Blossom Street Bridge.

According to an article in The State newspaper, the City of Columbia is requesting bids for designers and developers. The plan would include a waterfront park, a fountain and an amphitheater on 80 acres between the to bridges that connect West Columbia and Cayce to Columbia, over the Congaree River.

Other parts of the development could include apartments, restaurants and retail shops.

The land is being donated by the Guignard Family and part of the study to develop it is being paid for by the Boyd Foundation, according to the article in The State.
