The City of Cayce reported a sewer main break, Tuesday afternoon, and an overflow at Darby Way leading into 6 Mile Creek. DHEC has been notified and proper protocols have been put in place. Our city utilities staff is notifying residents in the impacted area by placing signs at some of the entry points of the spillage area and going door-to-door. 

What Happened: Hurricane Helene’s strong winds caused a tree to fall, breaking a 15-inch sewer main.

Next Steps: City contractors are currently mobilizing at the site to repair the break as quickly as possible.

Precautions you Should Take:  Do not swim or enter the water.
