The City of Cayce is offering a Guided Historical Walking Tour of Fort Congaree beginning at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 16, at the 12,000 Year History Park on Congaree Creek.  The 12,000 Year History Park is at 1120 Fort Congaree Trail, Cayce. 

Tours are 60-to-90 minutes long, focusing on local history.

National Park trained volunteers Gary and Sue Kelly lead the tour of Fort Congaree. They will relate stories connected to the site. Gary and Sue will also bring items of interest that replicate some of the things used during the period. Tours are interactive and comments and questions are welcome.

There are also two tours in July and two tours in August. The Civil War Battle of Congaree Creek is included in two of the four tours.

Please remember to wear comfortable shoes. You may want to bring a hat, sunscreen, insect repellent and plenty of water.
