City of Cayce announces retirement of Municipal Clerk, Mendy Corder, after 3 decades of dedicated service

After three decades of dedicated service, the City of Cayce announces the retirement of Cayce Municipal Clerk, Mendy Corder. Mendy started her journey with Cayce as the City’s receptionist in 1996, where her welcoming presence and organizational skills quickly made her a valuable part of the team. She later served in the Records Department at the Cayce Police Department, supporting critical operations with professionalism, accuracy, and discretion.

She eventually returned to City Hall, where her leadership and institutional knowledge continued to grow. Mendy served as Administrative Coordinator for the City Manager’s Office, playing a key role in the day-to-day operations of City government. She also took on the responsibilities of Municipal Clerk, a role essential to ensuring transparency, compliance, and the smooth functioning of City Council and municipal processes.

On her long-standing service to the City of Cayce, Corder states, “I began my journey with the city at 24 years old, and nearly 29 years later, it will be the people I’ll miss most. I’ve met residents who became friends and friends who became like family. Their kindness, stories, and support over the years have meant more than I can put into words. This community has helped shape not just my career, but my life, and I’ll carry that with me always.”

In addition to serving as Cayce’s Municipal Clerk, Mendy has overseen events, such as the award-winning Soiree on State, and managed public buildings, contributing behind the scenes to many of the programs, initiatives, meetings, and community events that residents and staff have come to enjoy and rely on. Her attention to detail, steady guidance, and commitment to service have left a lasting impact across departments.

“Throughout her extended career in Cayce, Mendy has been known for her professionalism, reliability, and compassion for our citizens. Her knowledge of our operations and her willingness to help wherever needed will be greatly missed,” stated Cayce City Manager, Michael Conley.

Please join our Cayce staff, elected officials, and citizens in congratulating Mendy on her well-earned retirement and thanking her for 29 years of outstanding service to the City of Cayce!

“Mendy did an amazing job of bringing the vision of the Soiree on State from the Mayors Institute for City Design to life. I will always be thankful for the way she poured her heart and soul into making it a uniquely Cayce event,” stated Mayor Elise Partin.

“On behalf of the City of Cayce, I want to extend our deepest gratitude to Mendy Corder for her years of dedicated service and unwavering commitment to our community. Mendy’s leadership, professionalism, and genuine care for the people she served have left a lasting impact that will be felt for years to come. She has set a high standard through her hard work and integrity, and while we will certainly miss her presence and steady guidance, we celebrate her well-earned retirement and wish her nothing but the very best in this next chapter,” said Mayor Pro Tem, Phil Carter.

“Before I became a City Councilman I served on our city’s Events Committee, where I quickly saw how knowledgeable and kind Mendy was and how blessed our city was to have her,” stated Cayce Councilman Byron Thomas. “That impression has never changed. She consistently goes above and beyond her duties as our Municipal Clerk and always steps up wherever needed. I am grateful she chose to serve the City of Cayce and wish her the very best in her retirement. Job well done!”

“I’ve known Mendy Corder for years and what I learned very quickly is if I wanted to get something done in Cayce, she was the one that I called and relied on. If she didn’t answer my call when I called, she would be very quick to call back. She is always eager to help if she could or direct me in the right direction,” stated Cayce resident Chip Salak. “We are losing a valuable, dedicated, loyal, and passionate employee on our Cayce City staff. She will be greatly missed, but not forgotten!”

“Throughout her tenure with the City of Cayce, Mendy Corder has been a trusted leader and an invaluable resource. Her extensive institutional knowledge, attention to detail, and commitment to serving our residents have left a lasting mark on our city. From Soiree on State, the Bluegrass Festival, Fall Fest, Appreciation Dinners, and assisting with the development of the Cayce Art Lot to the creation of the Cayce Cool Down, her leadership and organizational skills helped ensure each initiative’s success. All of this was accomplished while she faithfully carried out her Municipal Clerk responsibilities and maintained our public buildings on campus, demonstrating an extraordinary level of dedication to our residents and the future of Cayce,” stated Kay Hutchinson, Cayce’s Customer Accounts Manager. She continued, “Personally, Mendy has been a mentor, confidant and most importantly a friend during my tenure with the city. I will miss my “Work Bestie” deeply but wish her continued success and fulfillment in retirement! I would like to thank her for almost thirty years of dedication to the city and residents she loves dearly!”

“Mendy is the jewel of the City of Cayce; and while she may be replaced as Municipal Clerk, Mendy Corder’s dedication and love for the city will never be duplicated. Mendy is like family to so many of us; she certainly is and always will be family to the Creamers,” exclaimed Cayce resident, Danny Creamer.

For years, she has kept things running behind the scenes for the City of Cayce, always ready to lend a hand or share her knowledge. I’m so excited for her next chapter and know she will be deeply missed by me and many other residents,” stated Cayce resident, Colleen Bradley.

“I have worked with Mendy over the years as Chairman of the Annual Christmas Tree Lighting for the City of Cayce. She has always responded promptly to my questions and been professional in every way as we worked together to plan the program for the ceremony. She has been an asset to the city and will be missed tremendously,” stated Cayce resident, Ann Malpass.
