The City of Cayce has accepted the resignation of the Chief of Police, Herbert Blake, effective immediately. The City and Cayce’s elected officials wish him well in his future endeavors. The departure of Blake was announced in a press release from the City of Cayce, Friday morning.

Blake was introduced as Cayce’s new Police Chief on Oct. 30. He was sworn in a week later. Blake replaced Chief Chris Cowan, who left Cayce in July to join the staff at USC’s Joseph F. Rice School of Law.

Cayce’s Interim City Manager, Jim Crosland, who has extensive law enforcement experience, stated “We have a senior Command Staff and a fully capable police force that will continue to serve our city and to keep our citizens safe,” he continued, “We have an immediate plan to resume our search for the right person to lead our Cayce Police Department.”
