The Citizen of the Year Award was presented to Debbie Summers, Wednesday, by the Cayce-West Columbia Chamber of Commerce, Wednesday during the Chamber’s annual unGala. It was held at Stone River in West Columbia.

After raising her and Buds beautiful children, she then served for years in volunteer capacities, she then decided to serve the County of Lexington as County Council member for two decades, and she says she is just getting started! During this time, Debbie served as the Lexington County Advisor to the CWC Chamber of Commerce.

During which time she achieved the First ever “Lady Chairperson” of Lexington County. As an elected official Debbie has never been viewed as a politician, – she is a servant to and for the people. A true lady in every meaning of the word, Debbie has always done what is right by those she serves, many of you have watched as Debbie has lost sleep over a decision she would need to make, we as a community have witnessed as Debbie stood for the right thing.
