Christina Nelson, CWC Chamber Interim CEO announces decision to step back into previous role as Director of Operations

After several months of leading the Chamber and Visitor Programs, Mrs. Nelson announced her decision at the recent Board of Directors meeting to return to her previous role as Director of Operations; citing that the decision is based on her priority of a work-life balance. Mrs. Nelson stated that while enjoying the role of Interim CEO, the extensive hours and demands of the position were indeed contributors in her decision. Mrs. Nelson said, “I am honored and grateful to the Board of Directors for allowing me this opportunity to lead our Chamber, and I am hopeful that it will present itself again in the future when the timing is better. However, currently it is not the right season in my life to have such a position, and I realize my talents are currently most needed in the Director of Operations position.”
Mrs. Nelson gained unanimous support of the Board of Directors after a Search Committee recognized her as the leading candidate. “While the Board is saddened by Christina’s decision, we are supportive and appreciate her professionalism,” said JB Beckett, CWC Board Chair. “Our Board will soon determine the next steps; in the meantime, we will rely upon Tim James to remain in his current position as CEO-Mentor and lead the organization.”
Chairman Becket further stated, “While roles may be changing, we are very fortunate that we have both Christina and Tim in leadership positions, which is a team that has, and will continue to keep the Chamber on a course of success. In addition to a very capable in-house leadership in place, we have a committed Board of Directors that happily provide professional guidance and give of themselves to help facilitate the needs of the business
