Charlie Rountree III honored with a SC Senate Resolution after induction into golf hall of fame

Mr. Charlie Rountree, III was honored with a SC Senate Resolution, Tuesday, for being inducted into the golf hall of fame. The Resolution was sponsored by Sen. Nikki Setzler of West Columbia. Roundtree was recognized for his work in fostering a love for golf among the youth in the state. He was a member of the South Carolina Golf Association (SCGA) board from 1987 to 2007, serving as the SCGA Board President from 2006 to 2007. Roundtree remains associated with the SCGA board as a current member of the Past Presidents Committee.

A senate RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE Mr. Charlie Rountree, III FOR being inducted into the golf hall of fame.

Whereas, the South Carolina Senate is proud to recognize Mr. Charlie Rountree, III for his work in fostering a love of golf among the youth in the State and to congratulate him for being inducted into the Golf Hall of Fame; and

Whereas, son of 1978 Hall of Fame inductee Charles Rountree, Jr., Mr. Rountree has carried on his father’s legacy of championing junior golf; and

Whereas, Mr. Rountree was a member of the South Carolina Golf Association (SCGA) board from 1987 to 2007, serving as the SCGA Board President from 2006 to 2007. He remains associated with the SCGA board as a current member of the Past Presidents Committee; and

Whereas, a founding member of seven different organizations, Mr. Rountree has facilitated the introduction and growth of many initiatives, including the South Carolina Junior Golf Association, the South Carolina Junior Golf Foundation, the Monday After the Masters event, the Bobby Chapman Junior Invitational, the Can‑Am Junior Matches, the Tiger Golf Gathering, and the Golf Ball; and

Whereas, Mr. Rountree has devoted much of his life to furthering the game of golf not only in South Carolina but also around the country through his twenty‑five years of work with the USGA Junior Golf Committee. He was awarded the United States Golf Association Ike Granger Service to Golf Award in 2019; and

Whereas, Mr. Rountree joined the board of trustees of the Heritage Classic Foundation (HCF) in 2011. Through his position as Chairman of the Palmetto State Committee of the HCF, he has garnered much support for the RBC Heritage Presented by Boeing tournament. He is also a member of the United States Golf Association Regional Affairs Committee and the Bulls Bay Golf Club and Palmetto Golf Club; and

Whereas, Mr. Rountree is married to Debra Rountree, and with her, he has two stepchildren and five grandchildren; and

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate appreciate the pride and recognition that Mr. Rountree has brought to the State.  Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, congratulate Mr. Charlie Rountree, III for being inducted into the Golf Hall of Fame.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Mr. Charlie Rountree, III.
