Cayce’s State of the Art Gallery and Pottery Studio thriving – and expanding – in the Business Spotlight
State of the Art Gallery and Pottery Studio is in the heart of Cayce’s Arts District. Levi Wright opened the venture in 2020 and not only is the business thriving, it’s getting ready to expand.

“We’re opening more space across the street in a two-story studio,” Levi said. “The bottom floor will have a pottery wheel, a kiln and other tools for clay artists. Hand-builders will work there too. The top floor has five individual studios for artists who paint.”
The studio space at 2018 State Street is in a historic building with charming brick and plaster walls and original hardwood floors. It’s scheduled to open at the end of October.
Cayce City Councilman Tim James is a patron of State of the Art. The business is in his district, at 2007 State Street. He appreciates their contribution.
“State of the Art has so much to offer our community,” James said. “Locally owned and operated, Levi has art for your home, or a gift. Even a gift card to make your own pottery, as me and my family did earlier this year. We all loved the experience.”

Levi said the City of Cayce has been very supportive and his location provides a vibe for creativity for him and other artists. The new building has that same inspirational aura. Piecewise Coffee, the next-door-neighbor, is also the source of traffic into State of the Art.
“We want to be here for the arts community and we want to expand the arts district,” Levi said. He also said the parents of USC students have discovered his studio and gallery and they have become customers.
State of the Art’s pottery studio is led by Wright, who is a master potter. He teaches one-day pottery classes and six-week classes. Levi Wright Pottery is also available in the gallery.
