Cayce’s Julius Felder Street to get new sidewalks
New sidewalks are coming to Julius Felder Street in Cayce.
Cayce City Council approved matching funds in the amount of $93,000 for Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the Julius Felder Sidewalk Project at its city council meeting, last Wednesday.
“It’s a long overdue project,” said Mayor Elise Partin.
The $605,000, three-phase plan is funded mostly by the S.C. Department of Transportation (DOT.) Cayce, in addition to using general budget funds, has received Lexington County “C” funds in the amount of more than $44,000 for the project.
Assistant City Manager Shaun Greenwood said bids have not been requested for the project, so a schedule for work to begin has not been devised. He said the process involves coordination with the DOT, and those projects can take longer than a more local project would take.
Julius Felder runs south of Cayce’s Frink Street, into Edenwood Subdivision. Greenwood said the sidewalks would extend onto South Edenwood.
