Cayce woman, 104, gets out of burning home safely
A 104-year-old Cayce woman made it out of her home safely during a fire Tuesday, but the fire destroyed her home.
Cayce City Councilman Skip Jenkins said a prayer for the woman during the invocation at the Cayce City Council meeting Tuesday.
The woman’s home was on Lee Street and crews from the Cayce Department of Public Safety responded to a fire at the home Tuesday afternoon. The home was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived. The woman, who lived in the home and will be 105 next month, got out without injury, according to a post on the CDPS Facebook page.
The home is almost a total loss. The cause of the blaze is under investigation. Family members are taking care of the woman, according to Cayce Public Safety.
