Cayce Public Safety looking for man who grabbed woman in store parking lot
A man grabbed a woman at the Bi-Lo on Knox Abbott Drive in Cayce, last Tuesday, according to the Cayce Department of Public Safety.
The time of the incident was around 8:40 p.m.
The suspect, police said, parked in the grocery store parking lot about the same time the woman arrived.
He parked his car two spaces away from where the woman parked. But then he moved his vehicle into a parking spot in front of hers while the woman was in the store.
The woman told officers she saw the man sitting in his van,and watching her as she walked to her car in the parking lot after she exited the store.
While the woman was putting her groceries into her car, the man walked up behind her and grabbed her by her arms. The woman then pushed the suspect, according to police, and asked him what he was doing. He told her “his van was out of gas and he needed a dollar for gas.”
The woman told the man to leave her alone and she got the attention of a Bi-Lo employee. The suspect ran back to his van and fled the scene.
Police said the suspect is described as a white male, anywhere from 5’6″ -to – 5’10” tall and 170 pounds. He has shoulder length curly hair and facial hair. maybe a beard. He was driving a silver 2000-2002 Ford Winstar van with a distinctive dent in the passenger side front fender.
