Cayce Police Department to introduce new K9 team member, Tuesday, at Steel Hands Brewery

The Cayce Police Department will introduce the newest member of their K9 team to the public at a press conference Tuesday at 10 am at Steel Hands Brewing (2350 Foreman Street, Cayce.)

The newest pup just completed training and was funded with the proceeds from the 2023 Steel Paws event! The Steel Paws initiative, a partnership between Steel Hands Brewing, the City of Cayce, Jim Hudson Automotive Group, the Richland County Sheriff’s Department and the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, has funded equipment and training for the K9 programs in the City of Cayce, Lexington County and Richland County.

Ashley Lambert, Marketing Director at Steel Hands Brewing, stated, “We are so excited to meet the newest Cayce K-9! We wholeheartedly believe in the work being done by our local K-9s and their handlers to keep our community safe, and grateful for the role Steel Paws has played in sustainable fundraising for the cause. We continue to be overwhelmed by the generosity and support of our community, and now to see those donations come full circle again this year is why the Steel Paws mission is so important to us.”

Jim Hudson, Owner of The Jim Hudson Automotive Group, stated, “We have always worked to make our community a better place. Partnering with Steel Hands on the Steel Paws initiative has been a huge success. Without a doubt, Sheriff Lott and Sheriff Koon are two of the greatest sheriffs in the country; and watching all that Chief Cowan has been able to do for the citizens of Cayce is nothing short of amazing! I take great pride in being able to give back these three law enforcement agencies. Their work continues to make our community a safe place to call home.”

Speakers at the February 20 media event will be Mayor Elise Partin, Sheriff Jay Koon, Sheriff Leon Lott, Ashley Lambert, Jim Hudson, Pamme Eades, and Cayce Police Chief, Chris Cowan. Members of the media will also see a K9 demonstration, meet the K9s and their

handlers, spend time with K9 Therapy Dog Hudson and see equipment and other items purchased by the Cayce Public Safety Foundation, the Lexington County Sheriff’s Foundation and the Richland County Sheriff’s Foundation through the Steel Paws Initiative.
