Cayce passes its 2022-2023 budget with a tax increase
The City of Cayce passed its 2022-2023 budget Tuesday with a unanimous vote.
The $16.7 million budget includes a property tax increase of 4.7 percent.
According to a flyer released by the City of Cayce, the tax increase amounts to less than $18-a-year on every $100,000 of assessed value of a home.
Cayce City Manager Tracy Hegler said the tax increase was neccessary because of soaring inflation.
Cayce City Councilman Hunter Sox said: the milleage increase “does not come close to matching inflation. If we waited to make the change in the next budget year, we would be leaving our taxpayers open to the volatility of inflation.”
