Cayce Historical Museum to mark George Washington’s visit
The City of Cayce and the Cayce Historical Museum will hold a commemorative event in honor of the 218th anniversary of President George Washington’s visit to the Cayce area during his Southern Tour of States.
President George Washington visited the area that would one day be called Cayce on May 22, 1791. The Cayce Historical Museum, at 1800 12th Street, will be celebrating George Washington’s Visit on Saturday, May 18, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
A press release from the City of Cayce said the event is perfect for the whole family. It will include: storytelling, games, a scavenger hunt, demonstrations in indigo dyeing, military drilling, and colonial embroidery. The free festivities will also feature colonial cooking and refreshments.
