Cayce Fire Department to host Save a Life Day on March 16, with bounce house, Easter Egg Hunt, safety training and opioid overdose awareness

The Cayce Fire Department is hosting Save a Life Day on March 16, at Granby Gardens Park (located at 1800 12th Street.) This new initiative will combine important safety opportunities, like CPR and basic first aid, with fun for the whole family! The event will kick off at 11 am and end at 2 pm.

There will be a kid’s area with a bounce house and Easter Egg Hunt, as well as opportunities to learn and give back to our community. These opportunities will include a community library, a gently used clothes closet, prescription drug take back, and demonstrations on how to use Narcan and administer CPR.

Cayce Fire Chief, Steven Bullard, stated, “Save a Life Day will be a fun event for the whole community! Our Cayce Firefighters are also excited to share life-saving techniques with our residents. The event will include raising awareness about something that we see too often: opioid overdose.”

report from the Lexington County Coroner listed 126 opioid-related overdose deaths for Lexington County in 2022. “This number is staggering and on the rise. As a department, we want to take every step we can to prevent opioid-related drug overdoses,” Chief Bullard continued.

A special thank you to our partners that will help raise awareness, share life-saving techniques, give back to our community and make this event impactful; yet fun, for all!
