The City of Cayce City Council extended its ordinance requiring Individuals to wear face coverings, Tuesday.

The ordinance was put in place for another 61 days.

Cayce Mayor Elise Partin said she had corresponded with Tod Augsburger, President and CEO at Lexington Medical Center. Augsburger told her people still need wear a mask to combat the spread of the coronavirus.

Augsburger said current coronavirus infection rates are more than half of the number they were at the peak of infections.

Augsburger told Partin: “We’ll get over the finish line, but we’re not there yet.”

The meeting was held virtually.
