He is also a Graduate of the 265th Session of the FBI National Academy for Executive Leadership, a Certified Public Manager, and a graduate of the SC Economic Development Institute.
In a statement to City Councilmembers about his retirement Crosland stated, “It’s a rarity that in an organization someone can start at the very basic entry level position and have an opportunity to retire as the City Manager. I believe we have set a firm foundation for moving forward with a concentration in economic development, code compliance procedures, implementing new employee incentives, and creating wonderful partnerships with our citizens and commercial partners.”
Statements from Councilmembers:
Jim Crosland did the City of Cayce a service by stepping in when he was needed. He did that not because he wanted this job but because he loves this City. We are thankful for Jim for all he has done throughout his entire career for the City of Cayce! We wish him the best of luck in his retirement from the city.
-Mayor Elise Partin
“In a very short period as City Manager, Jim has done more than others accomplish in an entire career. He has rekindled old relationships, built new relationships, built a team that profiles staff as a priority and managed a budget that has allowed staff incentives, all while also exceeding the services our city delivers. All amazing accomplishments that council members are proud of, and the reason we desire Jim remain as our City Manager.”
-Mayor Pro Tem, Tim James
“Jim has accomplished many things in his short tenure as our City Manager. His team building skills are most impressive and he has always kept the employees first! He has been the ultimate professional when tasked with keeping council informed and advised on all city matters. It’s a sad day for all of us in the City of Cayce.”
-Councilman Phil Carter
“Jim is a true servant leader who has left his legacy at Cayce. He is one of the hardest working people who has worked for our city. While I am truly saddened to see him go, I am excited for him to enter this new phase of life. Jim has left this city in a better position than he inherited and has laid the groundwork for future success.”
-Councilman Hunter Sox
“I’m shocked by this news, but I respect the decision he’s making for himself and his family. I know this wasn’t easy because I know how much Jim loves the City of Cayce! He has worked his way up from the bottom of the police department to now running this city. His heart bleeds and beats all things, Cayce! I’m so grateful to have worked with him to get Glenwood Park renovated. Jim was committed to enhancing our city’s parks and the overall quality of life in the City of Cayce. He might be retiring, but his legacy will never be forgotten at the City of Cayce!”
-Councilman Byron Thomas
As he did with the new Cayce Police Chief, Bruce Wade, Crosland will aide in working to find a City Manager that will be a good fit for the needs of our city. His last day with the City of Cayce will be August 8.
