Cayce City Councilman Hunter Sox gets strong support at re-election rally
Press Release – 10-10-25 – County and municipal leaders came out Thursday evening in a show of support for District Three Cayce City Councilman Hunter Sox, who is running for re-election.
Lexington County Council Members Todd Cullum, and Todd Cockrell were in attendance at The Landing Event Center rally. Springdale Mayor Juston Ricard and Springdale Town Councilman Jacob Wilkerson were also there, along with West Columbia Council Members Mike Green and David Moye.
Former Lexington Two School Board Member Beth Branham and her husband Keith were there too, along with Tim James, Byron Thomas and Phil Carter from Cayce City Council. Sox’s grandparents, parents and sister were in the crowd, along with dozens of supporters.
Sox said: “it’s great to have such a friendly crowd here.” He met with constituents at the same venue in August to discuss issues in the district.
As he continued, Sox said he decided to run for council four years ago because he wanted to help encourage business and residential growth.
“I ran because I believed someone needed to bring life and energy back to District 3, right here along the Airport Boulevard corridor, the Charleston Highway corridor, and all the way out to Platt Springs and Hunters Mill,” he said. He also said he promised to protect taxpayers. strengthen infrastructure, and revitalize the gateways into Cayce.
On Safety: “We’ve invested in new police and fire equipment — including new trucks — that lowered our ISO rating, saving families and businesses on insurance premiums.” He also said: “We added new neighborhood access-point cameras in District 3 and strengthened partnerships with the airport police and Midlands Tech Police Departments.”

On Parks: “We renovated our parks, including a $50,000 upgrade to Glenwood Park, added new features to others, and installed Wi-Fi access so families can connect while their children play.”
Aesthetics: “We’ve torn down dilapidated buildings, cleaned up landscaping near the interstate, and brought in new commercial and small businesses.
“We have a major landscaping project about to launch, and the road is scheduled for resurfacing in 2026.”
Sox also talked about the future: “In a second term, we’re going to build on the progress we’ve made.
We’ll continue revitalizing Airport Boulevard and Charleston Highway, but with a vision that goes deeper than beautification. We’re implementing corridor-specific plans and distinct zoning overlays designed to attract the kinds of businesses we want to see: small retail, restaurants, housing, and mixed-use development.”
Sox also addressed the attacks that have been made against him, mostly on social media.
“There’s a Facebook group out there that’s done everything they can to get rid of me — and my colleagues — because we’ve stood for accountability and transparency.
“They’ve: Slandered me; Claimed I don’t live in Cayce, Spread lies that I Airbnb my house when I have guests, and even trespassed on my property to check whether my vehicles have tags. With everything going on in the world, their rhetoric and actions are concerning — but I will not let their negativity stop the progress we’re making in Cayce.”
In closing, Sox said: “It has been the honor of a lifetime to represent the same community that my family has lived in, worked in, and built. This community built me — and I’ll continue doing everything I can to give back to it, and to you.”
“Thank you for believing in this mission, for believing in Cayce, and for believing in me.”
