Cayce City Council, at its meeting Tuesday, became the first municipality in Lexington County to implement a Hate Crime Ordinance.

Councilman Byron Thomas was instrumental the passing of the ordinance.

Mayor Pro Tem Tim James said: “having an important law as this within our Ordinances reassures our community that we support all citizens; additionally it places another tool in the toolbox for our police department when investigating unfortunate crimes such as this. I am thankful to Councilman Thomas for his steadfastness in this endeavor.”
