The Lexington Police Department notified the public around 3 p.m. Tuesday that all lanes of Sunset Boulevard in Lexington are closed due to a natural gas leak.  The leak occurred near Old Cherokee Road. Officials asked drivers to avoid the area if possible.

Traffic was detoured around the scene. The detours remained in place until close to midnight, but all lanes have been reopened.

There have been 10 businesses evacuated at the 5400 block of Sunset Boulevard due to the leak:
