BBC Urges Community to Join Urgent Call to Action at 4th Annual Gun Violence Prevention Summit — July 19

With gun violence claiming lives across South Carolina this summer, Building Better Communities (BBC) is calling on the entire Midlands community to stand together at the 4th Annual BBC Gun Violence Prevention Summit, happening this Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Lenoir Rhyne University in Columbia.

“We’ve seen more than 17 shootings across our state this summer alone — and that’s 17 too many,” said Perry Bradley, Jr., Founder of BBC. “Now is the time for action. This Summit isn’t just a gathering — it’s a community-wide stand to say: Not One More.”

The event is open to the public and will feature a direct call to action, hands-on training, and immediate ways for residents to get involved.

Summit Highlights Include:

  • “Not One More” Community Call to Action
  • Stop the Bleed Training — Practical, lifesaving skills anyone can learn
  • Free Gun Safety Lock Giveaway for all attendees
  • Community Pledge Signing — A united public commitment to prevent violence
  • On-Site Volunteer Sign-Ups — For neighborhood safety, youth mentoring, and community support teams
  • Lunch Provided

Date: Saturday, July 19, 2025
Time: 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Location: Lenoir Rhyne University, 4201 N Main Street, Columbia, SC 29203

Admission is free and all community members are encouraged to attend.

“Other cities have reduced violence by standing together — Columbia and South Carolina can too. But it starts with us showing up,” Bradley said.
