Budweiser Clydesdales to be in Lexington, Thursday, Main Street will close at 11:30 a.m.

Main Street in downtown Lexington will be closed on Thursday, for the Budweiser Clydesdales, according to Lexington Police Chief Terrence Green.

Main Street, from Lake Drive to Church Street, will close at 11:30 a.m. and remain closed for approximately one hour as the Budweiser Clydesdales are paraded on Main Street, stopping at several restaurants on this route.

During the closure of Main Street, traffic will be detoured around the area onto South Church Street and North Lake Drive. Officers will direct traffic at several downtown intersections to assist with traffic flow around the closed street.

The Budweiser Clydesdales will stage in the Icehouse Amphitheater parking lot, and attendees can view the hitching and unhitching process from the Icehouse Amphitheater and Icehouse Pavilion. The parking lot will be closed, and attendees will not be able to approach the horses.

The Budweiser Clydesdales will leave the Icehouse Amphitheater parking lot at approximately 11:30 a.m. and use the route of Main Street to North Lake Drive to Butler Street to Church Street and then back into the Icehouse Amphitheater parking lot. Main Street is expected to reopen by approximately 12:30 p.m.

It is advised that attendees arrive early to find a parking space and seating along Main Street, as this event is expected to be well-attended. Please find parking in public lots near the event, as those who park in private business parking risk being towed at the owner’s expense.

Parking along either side of Main Street within the parade route and at the Icehouse Amphitheater will not be allowed overnight on April 24, 2024, and will continue until this event ends.
