Bruce Wade, Cayce’s new Police Chief, addresses the Cayce-West Columbia Chamber Business Luncheon with West Columbia Police Chief Marion Boyce
Bruce Wade, Cayce’s new Police Chief, and West Columbia Police Chief Marion Boyce spoke at the Cayce-West Columbia Chamber’s Business Watch Luncheon, Tuesday. It was held at the Chamber Headquarters on 12th Street, in Cayce.
Wade said he will build pillars in the community and he thanked the business leaders who gathered at the Chamber HQ. He also said the cities of Cayce and West Columbia are connected and unified, and both are quick to back each other up. Wade said that will be the case with Wade as Cayce’s Chief.
Boyce said he recommended Wade, who was the WCPD’s Assistant Chief, to serve as Cayce interim police chief while a search was conducted for a permanent chief. Boyce also said he had mixed emotions when he heard that Wade would become Cayce’s Police Chief.
“I was happy for him, but I didn’t want West Columbia to lose him,” Boyce said. Both Wade and Boyce had been with the West Columbia Police Department for about 20 years. Both said they have the utmost respect for each other as law enforcement professionals.
Cayce City Manager Jim Crosland said Wade was his top choice and he is pleased to get him in as Cayce’s Chief.
C-WC Chamber President and CEO Tim James said both police departments have the full support of the C-WC Business Community. He also thanked both chiefs for their service.
