The storms that blew through in the last couple of weeks have slowed construction on the Brookland project in West Columbia, but it is progressing.
“We’re moving ahead,” said Teresa Hodge, Project Manager at Estates Management Company.
Estates is building the $40 million retail, commercial and residential facility at State and Meeting streets.
Alexander Road, on the east side of Brookland, reopened Tuesday. It was closed since February. Hodge said work on the road took longer than expected but it’s complete now.
She also said site work for Brookland is continuing. SCANA is on the property, installing transformers.
Storm drains have been put down, and the land, that is sloped, drains water well, Hodge said.
