Brookland-Cayce science teacher Elizabeth McShane passes away

Brookland-Cayce High School science teacher Elizabeth McShane passed away late last week. Brookland-Cayce sent an email Monday afternoon informing students and parents of McShane’s passing. A copy of the letter is posted below:

Dear Brookland-Cayce Families:

It is with a heavy heart that we mourn the passing of a member of our Brookland-Cayce High School family, Elizabeth McShane.

Elizabeth became a member of Brookland-Cayce’s Science Department in 2019, and she shared her love for science and learning with students each day. She made learning about science fun and ensured that students understood how science was an important part of their daily lives. She enjoyed being part of the Bearcat family and was always eager to lend a helping hand to students, colleagues and friends. She will be missed by all of us.

Our counselors are ready to help students and staff who may need extra support in the coming days. You also are welcome to contact me at (803) 791-5000 or [email protected].

Please keep Elizabeth’s family in your thoughts at this difficult time.

Sincerely,

Barry Bolen, Principal
