Brookland-Cayce gets first-round win in high school baseball playoffs

Brookland-Cayce defeated Loris, 4-2, in a 3A first-round high school playoff game at BC, Tuesday.

With the win, BC moves on to play the winner of the Bishop-England/Lake City winner. Those 2 teams played Tuesday night at Lake City.

The Bearcats scored 2 runs in the bottom of the second inning and 2 more in the bottom of the fourth. Loris scored 2 runs in the top of the fourth inning.

BJ Etheridge had 9 strike outs and got the win for Brookland-Cayce. Thomas Cox took the loss for the Lions.

Mason Turner had a solo home run for the Bearcats. Jackson Thomas scored twice and Jordan Gibbs scored a run for BC. Thomas and Gibbs each hit a double.
Thomas also pitched the 6th and 7th innings for BC and he got the save.
